1． In a forest a lion was sleeping under a tree When he woke up, a gnat (叮人小虫)was standing on his nose. "away with you!"said the lion angrily to the gnat. The gnat jumped off but he began to fly around the lion's head. He would not leave.
"Do you think, " he said to the lion, "that I am afraid of you because they call you king?"
After a while he flew at the lion again and stung(蜇伤)him sharply on the nose. The lion got mad and tried to hit the gnat, but only succeeded in tearing himself with his claws(爪 子). Again and again the gnat stung the lion. This made the lion jump up and down to catch the gnat. Unluckily, the lion hurt himself on the nose and he had to cover the nose with his claws. At last, the lion gave up the fight.
The gnat flew away to tell the whole world about his victory(胜利), but instead he flew straight into a spider's web. And there he came to an end. The little spider (蜘帙) was waiting for his dinner there.

3． Min Sun, with another name of Ziqian, was a famous man in the State of Lu during the Spring and Autumn Period. He was a student of Confucius. Among all students of Confucius, he was compared with Yan Yuan.
Min Sun's mother died very early, Later his father took another wife, who gave birth to two sons. The stepmother mistreated Min Sun in winter, while two young brothers wore warm clothes made of cotton. Min Sun only wore clothes made of reed catkins(芦花).
One day, he followed his father to go out. When pulling the chariot(马车), Min Sun felt so cold that he dropped the rope onto the ground. Then his father beat him. Just then the reed catkins flew out from the broken clothes and his father knew that Min Sun was mistreated. He was very angry.
After the father returned home, he want to divorce(休掉)his wife. Min Sun fell on his knees and begged his father to forgive his stepmother. He said, "If Mother stays at home, only I myself have to stand cold. But if you divorce Mother, all three children have to suffer from cold. "
His father was deeply moved and took Min Sun's advice. The stepmother heard of this, felt sorry and knew her mistakes. From then on, she treated Min Sun as her own son.

4． In 1987, a small company named Huawei was Parted in Shcruiurn. After more than 30 years development, the company has now beaten Apple and become the world's second﹣largest maker of smartphones behind Korea's Samsung. It has also become the world's largest supplier(供应商) of 5G.
But recently, Huawei faced some difficulties. The U. S. government ordered a ban on its sales in America. American officials said Huawei gave information that it collected to the Chinese government. At the same time, the U. S. governement planned to stop selling parts and services to Huawei, which was believed that Huawei's business would be hurt.
"We have never received such a request from the Chinese government and we have never tried to get into other systems to collect information. " Ren Zhengfei, Huawei's founder and president said. "This ban from the U. S. would have little effect on our company. Huawei has enough ability to deal with the problems. " Ren added.

Xian Xinghai was a very famous musician in China. He wrote one of the greatest pieces of music of the 20th century. Xian was(1)              in Panyu, Guangdong. China in 1905. He began(2)              the violin at the age of 20. In the beginning, his violin was so cheap and badly made that he (3)             it well. His friends laughed at him.
