13. Hey, I'm Simon. I am a 14-year-old boy from America. My favourite animal is the dog. At home, I have a big and tall dog. His name is Bruce. He is my good friend. He likes playing with me. Sometimes he also follows my father to work in the field.
Here, I'd like to tell a story to show how faithful Bruce is.
One morning when my father worked in the field, he took off his coat and put it under a big tree. Then he turned to the dog and said, "Watch my coat, Bruce!"
Bruce understood what my father asked him to do and sat down on the coat. Later, my father remembered he had to buy some food. So he hurried to the shop. After shopping, he went home immediately and forgot completely about his coat and the dog.
In the evening, I looked for my dog everywhere in the house, but I couldn't find him. Then my father suddenly remembered his coat and the dog. So we went back to the tree at once. As a result, we found that Bruce was still sitting on the coat!
14. Hello and welcome to "Words and Their Stories". We will research into some commonly used words and expressions. Compared to other languages, American English is rich in expressions that come from animals. Wolves are important animals in the traditions and stories of America. Today we will talk about the wolf.
To begin with, there is an expression lone wolf. If we call somebody a lone wolf, he isn't a bad person, but he may like to do things by himself. In fact, he sometimes make you think he doesn't want to be around people because he dislikes them.
Now, let's move on to the home. When having a meal, parents always tell their children not to wolf down their food. The expression "wolf down food" shows the child eats too quickly and without care. It can be bad for health.
A wolf call is the noise made by a man to show that he likes the way a woman looks. But a wolf call is not a nice thing. These men sound rude. And in fact, most women don't like wolf calls at all.
By the way, there is a popular expression about wolf from a very old story: a wolf in sheep's clothing. A wolf in sheep' s clothing describes someone who acts and looks nice on the outside but is bad on the inside. It tells us that appearances can lie to people.
15. Mr. Guo is a teacher from Xi'an. He asked his students to hand in their homework through a QR code. "We spent about an hour in class learning how to generate (使产生) the codes, and in the end everything gets easier," Said Guo, "When students finish the homework, they keep it on WeChat. Then, each student makes his QR code and gives it to me. So I can check their work anywhere using my computer or telephone."
The students can send the QR codes to Mr. Guo by email, QQ and WeChat. When Guo scans (扫描) his students' QR codes, their homework appears on his phone. He finds that their homework becomes more creative (有创新性的), with many pictures, music and even videos.
Guo's students like the new way and think it is interesting. "We are living in the information age. Many students like to work with computers, which makes learning more fun," Said Tingting, a student of Guo's. "The paper is not easy to keep, but the code is easy to keep and share," Guo said, "It is good to try to use something new in education (教育). Education itself is a kind of creation. I don't want my students to fall behind the times."
However, some parents are worried. They are afraid that their children will spend too much time on computers and less time communicating (交流) with teachers. But in fact, it's unnecessary. Students still need to look up information in books and write it down when they do their homework. They only use the codes when they hand in their work, which doesn't take them too much time. Also for teachers, it allows them to check the students' work at any time. And it's also an easy way to share homework with other students.

(1)How long did Mr. Guo's students spend learning how to generate the codes?

(2)How can the students send the QR codes to Mr. Guo?

(3)Do the students like the new way of handing in homework?

(4)Why are some parents worried about the way?

(5)Do you think it is a good way to hand in the homework? Why or why not?
