Yang wrote lots of works and most of them are still popular now.
What's more, Yang finished a translation of Don Quixote. This made her the first Chinese to translate a whole book from Spanish. Her translation has been given as national gifts to visiting leaders of other countries.
In 2001, Yang gave away royalties (版税) from books written by her husband Qian Zhongshu and herself worth 10 million yuan, to set up a scholarship fund (奖学金) to help poor students.
Bill Gates is the former chairman of Microsoft Corporation, a worldwide leader in software and Internet technologies. With his friend Paul Allen, he founded Microsoft in the 1970s. With the development of Microsoft, he became one of the richest men in the world.

20. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? If you were like most children, you probably let your imagination run wild. Maybe you dreamed of flying into space or being a famous cook. Then perhaps over the years, your dreams became more realistic (现实的). Or you might have given up some altogether.
It's important to have dreams because dreams can give us the energy to succeed in life. Dreams inspire (激励) us. They might take a few years or they might take a lifetime to achieve. The important thing is that you're always working for your dream. And the best way to do that is by setting goals.
What is the difference between a dream and a goal? It's been said that dreams are the final destination (终点); goals are the stops along the way. Dreams can be very general. But the steps you take should be very specific. Your dreams mean what you want, but goals tell how you'll get there. That makes goal set a necessary step in reaching your dreams.
Many successful people have spoken about dreams. Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell stressed the importance of working for your dreams. "A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat (汗水), determination (决心) and hard work." Writer Les Brown reminded us that dreams have no age limit. "You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream."
If you've been dreaming about doing something for years, start today. Write down your dream, and establish your goals. Then you'll be on your way to making your dreams come true.
21. Zhong Fangrong, whose score in the latest national college entrance exam, or Gaokao, was among the best in China, reaffirmed (重申) her decision to major in archaeology (考古学) for her undergraduate studies on Tuesday, ignoring the head-shaking of shock netizens (网民).
With her high score on the test — 676 out of 750 — Zhong could have chosen virtually any major at any university in the country. So it surprised people when she signed up for archaeology, one of the least popular majors in China.
In a letter replying to the highly regarded Chinese archaeologist Fan Jinshi, the honorary president (名誉院长) of the Dunhuang Academy, Zhong expressed her desire to follow her heart, as Fan had done.
Zhong said it was Fan who had influenced her and gave her the confidence to study archaeology at Peking University, and she pledged (发誓)to follow in Fan's footsteps and devote herself to the field.
Earlier this month Zhong, a student from a small village in Leiyang, Hunan Province, made headlines for her high Gaokao score, which was fourth among the 194, 000 liberal arts students (文科生) in her province.
When her decision to study archaeology was reported in the media, Fan sent Zhong her biography and a letter encouraging her to stay true to her dreams.
Described as a "left-behind girl" by Chinese media, Zhong was raised by her grandparents after her parents left their hometown to work for years in Guangzhou.
Some netizens were surprised by Zhong's decision and said her choice would make it difficult to find a good job with a high income after graduation.
In China, popular majors such as finance, science and advanced technology are thought to be more promising.
Museums and archaeology research institutes around China rallied behind Zhong, and professional societies in the field from at least 10 provinces sent supportive messages.
