1． I met my classmate Rose on the first day of college. She was (1)       in our class. She was 87 years old.

4． Mark Twain once said that everyone talks about the weather, but no one ever does anything about it. This was true in his day. But it may not be the case in today's world. In fact, humans have found many different ways to control the weather.
Cloud seeding (云催化) is a kind of technology that control rain. It is done by spreading chemicals like dry ice or silver iodide (碘化银) inside of clouds, either by rocket or airplane. This changes the amount of rain, the time when it rains and even where it rains.
So the recipe (处方) for rain is:one large cloud, though a bunch of smaller ones would do nicely too:a serving of silver iodide and the services of a planes. Shower the silver iodide onto the cloud. Mix well and serve cold. We now have rain.
This technology has helped to solve droughts (干旱). It has also played a key role during important events. For example, China used cloud seeding in Beijing just before the 2008 Olympic Games in order to stop rain from falling during the event.
However, scientists are still debating how to use this technology. On one hand, it is believed that it might have side effect. For example, silver iodide may be bad for the environment. On the other hand, on two clouds are same, So every new experiment introduces new conditions.
Besides, it's important to plan things well. Since clouds don't produce rain until 20 or 30 minutes after they have been seeded, one needs to make sure they fall at the right place.
So, the next time you feel like a rain dance, plan ahead. Make rain a part of the menu.

6． Wanted: Summer Camp Volunteers (志愿者)
Cultural exchange is our goal.Come and help us make this a reality.
We, the American-Chinese Culture Exchange Center (ACCEC), are looking for volunteers from middle schools for our Summer Camp from August 10-30 this year.
During the 3-weck Summer Camp, 300 campers aged 7-10 will fly from America to China to explore Chinese culture, visit some places of interest and learn Chinese as well. We will try our best to provide the best camping experience, therefore we are looking for the 'best of the best' volunteers.
In the camp, you are expected to volunteer for at least two weeks (encourage three). Your job is to give Chinese lessons to our campers and help them learn more about China.Before the Summer Camp,you will receive a l0-day training, learning how to work with children and how to teach Chinese to young children. From working in the camp, you will achieve self-confidence and develop communication skills while having a great time.
To be our volunteers, you are required: Over 14 years old; good at both Chinese and English;outgoing; working well as a group.
