试卷题目
1. Including the following food or fruit in your breakfast makes you healthier and full of energy.
  Grapefruit
"Even if you changed nothing else about your diet, eating half a grapefruit before each meal may help you lose up to a pound a week, " says Patricia Bannan, author of Eat Right When the Time Is Right. "Researchers found that when obese people ate half a grapefruit before each meal, they dropped an average of 3. 5 pounds over 12 weeks, " she says.
  Tart Cherry
Tart cherries have been shown to benefit heart health as well as body weight in a study on obese rats. A 12﹣week study by the University of Michigan found that rats fed tart cherries showed a 9 percent belly fat reduction. Moreover, the researchers noted that the cherry consumption had great ability to alter the expression of fat genes. Enjoy them during breakfast to kick your morning off right.
   Sweet Potato
Sweet potatoes are packed with nutrients and can help you burn fat. They are high in fiber and have a low glycemic index (血糖指数), which means they are absorbed slowly and keep you feeling full longer. Min Chen likes to use them to whip up a sweet potato hash. "I love any kind of this dish because it provides rich vitamins, minerals and fiber. It is very filling, which helps keep appetite and portions under control as the day goes on, " she says.
  Bell Pepper
Green, red or yellow, fresh or frozen, peppers are never a bad companion for your eggs. Thanks to their high vitamin C content, eating them can help burn stored fat. Studies also indicate that Vitamin C helps muscles process a fatty acid called carnitine that's essential to muscle growth and recovery.
2. Happiness is for everyone. You don't need to care about those who have beautiful houses with large gardens and swimming pools or those who have nice cars and lots of money and so on. Why? Because those who have big houses may often feel lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country toads in their free time.
In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are in trouble at school, your friends will help you; when you study hard at your lessons, your parents are always taking good care of your life and your health; when you get success, your friends will say congratulations to you; when you do something good to others, you will feel happy, too. All these are your happiness. If you notice them, you can see that happiness is always around you.
Happiness is not the same as money. It is a feeling of your heart. When you are poor, you can also say you are very happy, because you have something else that can't be bought with money. When you meet with difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy, because you have more chances to challenge yourself. As the saying goes, life is like a revolving(旋转) door. When it closes, it also opens. If you take every chance you get, you can be a happy and lucky person.

Choose the best choice from A、B or C according to what you read.
3. American like to visit the national parks. In 1996, over 250, 000, 000 people visited areas run by the National Park Service. Experts predict that by 2022, 500, 000, 000 people per year will visit the parks. As a result, people are trying to think of ways to protect the parks from the crowds.
The crowding of the parks has caused several problems. One is that there is not enough space for all of the people who want to use the parks. To deal with this problem, national parks may require reservations(预定) months in advance for some spots. The Park Service may also raise entrance fees at these places.
Another problem caused by increased park use is pollution. Some garbage and waste can be cleaned up, and the cleanup can be paid for by increased entrance fees. To cut down on noise pollution and air pollution, officials may decrease the number of cars allowed in parks. If this happens, people may use buses to travel around the parks. Officials may also limit the use of jet﹣skis, snowmobiles (摩托雪橇), motorboats, and sightseeing helicopters and planes.
The parks are also threatened by development that is going on around them. For example, around Yellow Stone Park, many motels (汽车旅馆), golf courses, resorts, and other tourist attractions have been built. Some of these developments affect areas that are used by animals. People will have to learn to agree about ways to protect the parks. If they do not, there will soon be no reason to visit these national treasures.
4. This was the first real task I received in my new school. It seemed simple:go on the Internet and find information about a man named George Washington. As I searched the name, I found that there were two famous people having the same name who looked completely different! One invented hundreds of uses for peanuts(花生), while the other led some sort of army across America. I stared at the screen, wondering which one my teacher meant. I called my grandfather for a golden piece of advice:let the coin decide. I flipped(掷) a coin and Ah!Tails (背面)!My report would be about the great man who invented peanut butter, George Washington Carver.
Weeks later, I stood in front of the classroom and proudly read my homework. But things started to get strange. I looked around the room, only to find my classmates with big smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes and my stone﹣faced teacher. I was completely lost. "What could be causing everyone to act this way?"
Oh well, I dropped the paper and sat down at my desk, burning to find out what I had done wrong. As a classmate began his report, it all became clear, "My report is on George Washington, the man who started the American War of Independence. " The whole world became quiet! How could I know that my teacher meant that George Washington?
Of course, my subject result was awful. Sad but fearless, I decided to turn this around. I talked to the headmaster Miss Lancelot, but she said firmly:No re﹣dos;no new score. I felt that it was not fair, and I believed I deserved(应得) a second chance. So I threw myself heartily into my work for the rest of the school year. Ten months later, I sat in the headmaster's office again, but this time a completely different conversation.
