When the boy saw the colorful (1)       in the sky, he can't wait to fly a kite. The father bought a Superman kite for him. The boy was so (2)       because Superman is his favourite cartoon hero. He wants to be someone like Superman who can fly through the sky and (3)       bad people. He is brave and strong. He tries his best to protect the (4)       that he loves.

12.
World Sleep Day organized by WASM since 2008, is on March 21 every year. The year 2021 marks the 14th World Sleep Day. The slogan for WSD 2021 is "Regular Sleep, Healthy Future".
World Sleep Day is to celebrate the benefits of good and healthy sleep. Researchers say that there are a lot of advantages if we always get enough sleep. We can be smarter, thinner and healthier. Also we can have better skin, better memories and longer lives.
For our good life and work, it's necessary for us to realize the importance of sleep and try to have a good sleep.
How much sleep do we need?
Adults need at least eight hours of sleep a night. Students under 14 need at least nine hours of sleep every night. However, about 80% of high school students don't get enough sleep because of their schoolwork or some bad habits.
There is something you can do to have a good sleep.
• Exercise more, but not right before bed.
• Early to bed, early to rise.
• Drink a glass of milk before sleeping. Keep away from coffee, tea or chocolate at least 6 hours before bedtime.
• Keep the bedroom between 16℃—19 ℃.
• Don't put computers, TVs, and mobile phones in your bedroom.
13. Have you gotten vaccinated? This question has become a common way to greet others in China as more and more people widely received COVID-19 vaccinations in December, 2020.
According to China Daily, China plans to vaccinate 40% of its population by June. Meanwhile, China has reached out to other countries in need. It is sending COVID-19 vaccines to 28 countries and giving help to 69 countries in need. Most of these countries are developing countries, such as Pakistan, Mongolia and Mexico. Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Chilean President Sebastian Pinera both received China's COVID-19 vaccination, encouraging members of their countries to do the same.
Some rich countries have already stored many vaccines for their own citizens. Some of them have ordered enough vaccines to vaccinate their population two or three times, the Washington Post reported. For countries that have not yet developed or gotten a vaccine, China may be the only way for them to get help. China is one of the few countries that can produce vaccines in large number.
China has joined COVAX, organized by the WHO, to make sure that all members get the vaccine in the future. China has decided to offer 10 million vaccines to COVAX, nothing matters more than the people and nothing is more valuable than human lives.
14. Do you know the earth's "sister planet"? It is the second planet from the sun. It looks as large as the earth. It is close to the earth. Yes, it is Venus.
Scientists have been learning about Venus for a long time. First, they looked at Venus through telescopes. But Venus is covered with thick clouds. Scientists could not see Venus well through the clouds, so they made guesses about it.
For a long time, scientists thought that there were plants and water in Venus. They thought Venus might have animals too, but they didn't know for sure.
Then scientists found a way to learn more about Venus. In the 1960s, they began sending probes to Venus. The probes flew through the thick clouds and took pictures of Venus up close. They found out many things too. The probes sent the pictures and things they found out back to the scientists.
The scientists learned a lot from the probes. First, they learned that most of their guesses were not right. And they learned that Venus was very hot.
After that, scientists knew they could not send people to Venus. But they still wanted to know more about it, so they sent new probes. These new probes took great pictures of the planet. The pictures showed that there are plains and mountains in Venus! And in some ways, Venus looks like the earth.
15. "How many experiments have you done for the new medicine?" A reporter asked a famous scientist in an interview.
"Maybe over one thousand. Too many to count." The scientist smiled.
"Have you ever been bored with the job and thought about giving up, especially when you failed again and again in experiments?" The reporter was surprised.
  "Never." The scientist answered.
"What makes you different from others?" The reporter continued.
The scientist replied, "I think it all came from an experience in my childhood. At the age of four, I was trying to get a bottle of milk from a fridge. The bottle got out of my hands and fell, making all the milk over the kitchen floor. When my mother came and saw all the mess, she didn't shout at me angrily. Instead, she said, 'Jimmy, it's such a pool of milk. Well, would you like to get down and play in the milk before we clean it up?' So I started playing in the milk. After a few minutes I cleaned it with my mother's help. She then said, 'Now let's go out in the backyard, fill the bottle with water and see if you can carry it without dropping it.' That way I learned that if I held a bottle at the top with both hands, I could carry it without dropping it."
"From then on, I knew that I didn't need to be afraid of making mistakes, because I can learn something new from mistakes. And that's what scientific experiments are all about." the scientist added.
