11.Group: Buffy, Debby, Jamie, Albert, Matt... (7).
Hey, guys! I have a lot of things I don't need, so I'm thinking about having a yard sale. What do you think?
Buffy

Debby
Having a yard sale is not easy. You have to collect things, put prices on them, put them out on tables and then wait for people to come. And usually you have to sell things at VERY low prices. For all that time and work, you make very little money. Why not just sell your things online for higher prices?

Jamie
Debby's right. But I think it'd be even better to just give your things to people who need them. I just sent out a lot of things last week.

Albert
Hey, I love yard sales! It's a great chance to make big money if you choose the right day. In my experience, Saturday is the best.

Matt
I agree with Albert. You can make money and meet interesting people. I made some good friends at my last yard sale.

12. I saved the grain (谷物) carefully and finally had enough to plant. I built a wall around my garden to keep the wild goats (山羊) away.
Then when my grain bore its fruit (结果), the birds discovered it. The birds were not afraid of my dog at all. I shot them but as soon as I walked away, they returned. At last, I killed some birds and hung them among the grain, which turned out to be successful. No more birds came again. By harvest time, I got some rice and wheat.
With my new grain to keep, I found a new problem. The fine grain ran through my baskets. It took me nearly two months to make and dry two ugly pots (罐子)—one for rice and one for wheat.
Next I made a clay oven and made some other tools from hard wood and cloth to bake (烘, 烤) bread. I made and baked bread in my oven. I spent the third year on the island in farming and baking.
Soon after that, I began to think of my days sailing (航海) in a tidy boat. I wished to have a boat and go around the island by sea.
I tried to turn over the boat, but failed. I still wanted to have a boat. So I chose a strong tree and spent weeks cutting it down. Then it took me months to turn it from tree to boat.
When it was time to set out, I realized I had made my boat too far from the nearest river. The boat was far too heavy for me to move. I tried bringing the water to the boat instead of the boat to the water. I soon saw it would take me twenty years of work.
I celebrated my fourth year on the island with two boats, but I was no closer to a sea journey.

Once upon a time, there was a king. He only had one leg and one eye, but he was very smart and kind. Everyone lived a happy and healthy life because of the king. One day, the king was walking through the palace hallway and saw the paintings of his ancestors (祖先). He thought that one day his children would also walk in the same hallway and remember all the ancestors through these paintings. He wanted his children to remember him, too. So he invited many famous artists to his palace.
All of the artists began to think about the king's physical disabilities (生理缺陷). How could his painting be made very beautiful? It was not possible. They weren't sure what his painting would be like. So one by one, they all started to politely refuse to make a painting of the king.
But suddenly one artist raised his hand and said he would make a very nice painting of the king. The king became happy hearing that. Then the artist started painting. After a long time, the painting was ready.
When the artist showed the painting, everyone was shocked. In the painting, the king was sitting on a horse, on the one-leg side, holding his bow (弓箭) and aiming (瞄准) something with his one eye closed. The king was very happy and gave him lots of money.
As we all know, no one is perfect. So we should try to focus on (关注) others' advantages (优势) instead of their disadvantages. Just take an optimistic (乐观的) opinion of the event. Everyone can do a good job.
